Advay AI is designed to keep your data on your own device. This policy explains exactly what the extension does and does not do with your information.
The short version: Advay has no server of its own. Your API key, page content, and prompts are sent only to the AI provider you choose — never to us. We do not collect, store, sell, or transmit your personal data or browsing history.
1. What the extension accesses
Page content — When you trigger an action (summarize, explain, chat, run a workflow), Advay reads the content of the page you are actively on so the AI can respond to it.
Your inputs — Text you type or select for the AI to act on.
Your API key — The key you provide for your chosen AI provider.
2. Where your data goes
Page content and prompts are sent only to the AI provider you configured (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, a local Ollama server, or a custom endpoint you specify), solely to fulfill the request you triggered.
Your API key is stored locally in your browser (chrome.storage) and is transmitted only in your direct requests to that provider.
Advay AI has no backend server. Page content, prompts, and AI responses are never sent to the developer.
3. What is stored on your device
Your settings and selected provider.
Your API key (local only).
Knowledge items you explicitly save.
Custom workflows you create.
Optional local diagnostics (see below).
All of this lives in your browser's local storage on your device and can be cleared at any time from the extension's settings or by removing the extension.
4. Optional diagnostics (off by default)
If you opt in to diagnostic logging or anonymous analytics in Beta Mode, Advay records only numeric and categorical information — event types, timestamps, latency, success/failure, and feature names. It never records page content, prompt text, AI responses, passwords, or full URLs. This data stays on your device and is included only if you choose to export a diagnostic report to send with feedback.
5. What we do not do
We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties.
We do not use your data for advertising, credit assessment, or any purpose unrelated to the extension's single function.
We do not collect your browsing history.
6. Third-party providers
When you use Advay with an AI provider, your requests are subject to that provider's own privacy policy and terms. Please review the policy of whichever provider you configure (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google).
